What was the capital city called in Assassin's Creed Revelations?

The story behind the answer

Constantinople is the main capital city setting in Assassin's Creed Revelations.

Released in 2011, Revelations follows Ezio Auditore as he travels to Constantinople, the capital of the Byzantine Empire, during the early sixteenth century. The city is divided into districts influenced by Byzantine, Ottoman, and other local cultures, and Ezio works with the Assassins there while searching for keys connected to Altaïr's legacy.

The location is sometimes described using its later name, Istanbul. During the period depicted in the game, Constantinople was the established historical name, and the Ottoman conquest had made it the imperial capital. The game also returns to Masyaf and includes sequences set in Cappadocia, but Constantinople is its principal urban setting. Revelations was the concluding main adventure of Ezio's story.
