Answer
Clive Staples Lewis
Answer
Clive Staples Lewis
The birth name of the British writer C.S. Lewis was Clive Staples Lewis.
Lewis was born in Belfast, Ireland, on 29 November 1898. His middle name, Staples, came from his mother’s family and was also the surname of his maternal grandfather. He later became internationally known by the initials C.S. Lewis.
As a child, Lewis disliked the name Clive and adopted the nickname “Jacksie,” taken from the name of a childhood dog. Friends and family eventually called him “Jack,” a name he used for the rest of his life. This nickname is why biographies often refer to him as Jack Lewis.
Lewis became a scholar of English literature, a Christian apologist, and the author of The Chronicles of Narnia. His initials appear on both his imaginative fiction and nonfiction, including Mere Christianity and The Problem of Pain.
