What was the B-side of the single 'Good Vibrations'?

The story behind the answer

The B-side of The Beach Boys’ single “Good Vibrations” was “Let’s Go Away for Awhile.”

“Good Vibrations” was released as a single in October 1966 during The Beach Boys’ most adventurous studio period. Its reverse side was an instrumental composed and produced by Brian Wilson. The track had originally appeared on the band’s landmark album Pet Sounds, released earlier that year.

“Let’s Go Away for Awhile” was recorded with a large group of Los Angeles session musicians rather than relying solely on the touring band. Its lush arrangement includes strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, piano, and guitars, giving it a relaxed, cinematic character. Wilson reportedly considered it one of his favorite instrumentals.

The other options are all notable Beach Boys songs, but they were not the B-side of this single. “God Only Knows” and “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” also appeared on Pet Sounds, while “Heroes and Villains” was associated with the unfinished SMiLE project and later released on Smiley Smile.
