McDonald’s first globally standardized advertising slogan introduced in 2003 was “I’m Lovin’ It.”
The campaign was created to give McDonald’s a consistent worldwide marketing platform while allowing local advertising executions to vary. The phrase was paired with a distinctive musical hook and became one of the company’s most durable pieces of branding.
McDonald’s launched the campaign internationally in 2003, replacing a collection of regional advertising approaches with a common global identity. The campaign’s lowercase styling and short, conversational wording helped it work across languages and media formats.
The slogan is often associated with Justin Timberlake because he appeared in an early promotional recording, but the campaign itself was a McDonald’s global brand initiative. It should also not be confused with the older U.S. slogan “You Deserve a Break Today.”
