Hull City recorded a 2–0 win over Manchester United during the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
The match was played at Hull’s MKM Stadium on Saturday 22 August 2026. It was Hull’s first Premier League game after returning to the top flight following a nine-year absence.
Semi Ajayi opened the scoring in the 17th minute, and Nobel Mendy added the second goal shortly before half-time. Both players scored in the first half, giving Hull a memorable advantage against one of England’s most famous clubs.
The result was historically significant because it was Hull’s first top-flight league victory over Manchester United since 1974, when both clubs were in the old Second Division. Manchester United’s defeat also marked their fourth opening-weekend loss in seven seasons.
