What was Cyberpunk 2077’s first-person gameplay perspective called?

The story behind the answer

Cyberpunk 2077 uses a first-person perspective for its main gameplay. Players see Night City through V’s eyes while exploring, fighting, driving in many situations, and interacting with characters and objects.

CD Projekt Red chose first-person presentation to make conversations, combat, exploration, and cybernetic abilities feel more immediate. The decision represented a major change from The Witcher 3, which used an over-the-shoulder third-person camera around Geralt.

The game does include exceptions. Driving sequences can use third-person camera views, and the character can be seen in mirrors, menus, photo mode, and selected scripted moments. Those exceptions do not make the overall game third-person; the standard play perspective remains first-person.

The choice was also connected to the game’s role-playing design. V can be customized extensively, but the player generally experiences that customized body indirectly rather than watching it continuously on screen. This is why the canonical description is first-person perspective, not a mixed perspective label.
