Answer
Till We Have Faces
Till We Have Faces was C.S. Lewis’s final completed fiction book published during his lifetime.
Till We Have Faces: A Myth Retold was published in 1956. Lewis described it as a retelling of the Cupid and Psyche story, but the novel gives the central narrative to Orual, Psyche’s sister. Its first-person structure explores jealousy, religious doubt, identity, accusation, and the difficulty of understanding the gods.
The book appeared after most of Lewis’s best-known fiction, including The Chronicles of Narnia and the Space Trilogy. It is often considered one of his most psychologically complex novels because its narrator’s account gradually becomes subject to self-examination.
The title comes from the novel’s concern with hidden identity and the moment when people become capable of seeing truth clearly. Lewis died in 1963. Although works were published after his death, Till We Have Faces was his last completed novel issued while he was alive.
