The Space Trilogy
Answer
The Space Trilogy
C.S. Lewis’s fictional planet-hopping trilogy is called The Space Trilogy.
The trilogy consists of Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength. Its central human character is Elwin Ransom, a philologist whose adventures take him beyond Earth and into conflicts involving planetary powers, science, morality, and spiritual forces.
The first novel, Out of the Silent Planet, sends Ransom to Mars, which is called Malacandra. Perelandra takes him to Venus, while That Hideous Strength returns the action mainly to Earth and presents a modern society threatened by an organization seeking technological control.
The books are science fiction rather than part of The Chronicles of Narnia. Lewis used the genre to explore Christian and philosophical themes, while also responding to the scientific romances and space fiction popular in his era.
