What was Beyoncé’s first solo studio album, released in 2003?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé’s first solo studio album, released in 2003, was Dangerously in Love.

The album arrived on June 24, 2003, while Beyoncé was still a member of Destiny’s Child. It marked her formal transition from group star to solo recording artist, although she had already recorded featured songs and soundtrack material outside the group.

Dangerously in Love produced major singles including “Crazy in Love,” featuring Jay-Z, and “Baby Boy,” featuring Sean Paul. “Crazy in Love” became one of Beyoncé’s signature songs and topped charts in multiple countries. The album also included the title track and “Me, Myself and I.”

At the 46th Grammy Awards in 2004, the album helped Beyoncé win five awards, including Best Contemporary R&B Album. A common mix-up is calling B’Day her debut album; B’Day was her second solo studio album, released in 2006.
