Beyoncé’s first solo song to reach number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 was “Check on It.”
Released in 2005, the song was recorded for the soundtrack to the film The Pink Panther and later included on the international edition of Beyoncé’s debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. Slim Thug and the pop group Destiny’s Child were credited on the single, although Beyoncé was its central performer.
“Check on It” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks. The song’s success followed Beyoncé’s transition from Destiny’s Child to a major solo career, but it is often overlooked because “Crazy in Love” is more strongly associated with her breakthrough as a solo artist.
“Crazy in Love” was Beyoncé’s first solo single, while “Check on It” was the first solo single credited to her to reach number one on the Hot 100.
