What virtual K-pop group debuted during the 2018 Worlds ceremony?

The story behind the answer

The virtual K-pop group that debuted during the 2018 Worlds ceremony was K/DA.

Riot Games unveiled K/DA at the opening ceremony of the 2018 League of Legends World Championship in Incheon, South Korea, on November 3, 2018. The group performed “Pop/Stars,” combining live singers with augmented-reality versions of League champions.

K/DA’s fictional members were based on Ahri, Akali, Evelynn, and Kai’Sa. Miyeon and Soyeon of (G)I-DLE, Madison Beer, and Jaira Burns supplied the live vocals. The performance helped connect League’s esports spectacle with mainstream pop music.

Heartsteel, Pentakill, and True Damage are also Riot-created musical projects, but they debuted at different times and represent different genres or lineups. K/DA is specifically the group associated with the 2018 Worlds debut.
