The Lamborghini Urus is an SUV, specifically a high-performance luxury crossover SUV. It combines Lamborghini styling and supercar-level performance with five doors, extra ground clearance, and practical passenger space.
Lamborghini unveiled the production Urus in December 2017 as a 2018 model-year vehicle. It was the company's first SUV under Volkswagen Group ownership and its second SUV overall. The earlier LM002, produced from 1986 to 1993, was a much more rugged four-wheel-drive vehicle and is often described as the Urus's historical predecessor.
The Urus uses a front-engine, all-wheel-drive layout and shares the Volkswagen Group's MLB Evo platform with vehicles such as the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne, and Volkswagen Touareg. Its name comes from the aurochs, an extinct ancestor of modern domestic cattle. Although it is marketed as a Super SUV, it is not a sedan, convertible, or conventional two-seat sports car.
