Sasha Fierce was the stage persona Beyoncé used prominently during the I Am... Sasha Fierce era.
Beyoncé described Sasha Fierce as an alter ego representing a more confident and uninhibited performance mode. The concept shaped the 2008 double album I Am... Sasha Fierce, whose two discs contrasted personal ballads with energetic dance and pop songs.
The album included “If I Were a Boy,” “Halo,” “Diva,” and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).” Its title presented Beyoncé’s quieter, more reflective side alongside the bold persona used for high-energy performances.
Beyoncé later said she had retired the Sasha Fierce persona because she felt she had matured beyond needing an alter ego. The name is therefore most strongly associated with the 2008 album cycle, rather than being a permanent separate identity.
