What species is Goro in the Mortal Kombat series?

Goro is a Shokan in the Mortal Kombat series.

The Shokan are a powerful warrior race from Outworld, commonly depicted with four arms and great physical strength. Goro is one of their most prominent members and served as the sub-boss in the original Mortal Kombat arcade game.

Goro’s title is Prince of the Shokan, and his long undefeated record in Mortal Kombat helped establish him as a legendary fighter. His design was created through a combination of practical effects and stop-motion techniques for the original game.

Shokan should not be confused with Tarkatans, the species associated with Baraka and Mileena, or Centaurians, the race associated with Motaro. The species names describe different Outworld peoples.
