What song did Beyoncé release as the lead single from her 2003 debut album?

The story behind the answer

“Crazy in Love” was the lead single from Beyoncé’s 2003 debut album, Dangerously in Love.

Released in May 2003, the song features rapper Jay-Z and was produced by Rich Harrison and Beyoncé, with additional writing credits for Jay-Z. Its prominent horn sample derives from “Are You My Woman (Tell Me So),” a 1970 song by the Chicago group the Chi-Lites. The bold brass hook became one of the track’s defining musical features.

“Crazy in Love” became Beyoncé’s first number-one single as a solo artist in the United States. It also topped charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and New Zealand, among other markets. The music video, directed by Jake Nava, emphasized choreography and introduced the public to Beyoncé’s solo visual style.

The song won two Grammy Awards at the 46th ceremony in 2004: Best R&B Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. “Baby Boy,” another hit from the album, was released later as a separate single.
