What service released Portal: Still Alive in 2008?
Answer
Xbox Live Arcade
Answer
Xbox Live Arcade
Portal: Still Alive was released through Xbox Live Arcade in 2008.
Valve launched the standalone version for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 service on October 22, 2008. It included the original Portal campaign, 14 additional challenge levels, and new achievements. The extra stages were based on content from Portal: The Flash Version, a browser game created by the group We Create Stuff.
Portal: Still Alive was significant because it offered Xbox 360 owners a way to buy Portal separately rather than obtaining it through The Orange Box. Microsoft had previously rejected Portal for the platform because of its large size, but the eventual release made the game available as a digital Xbox Live Arcade title.
The edition is sometimes confused with later digital storefronts. Steam distributed the PC version of Portal, while Nintendo eShop became relevant to the 2022 Switch release. Neither service released Portal: Still Alive in 2008. The “Still Alive” title also refers to a specific Xbox 360 package, not a sequel or a story expansion with major new narrative chapters.
