Which studio developed Bridge Constructor Portal?

The story behind the answer

Bridge Constructor Portal was developed by ClockStone. The Austrian studio combined its established bridge-building simulation formula with the characters, locations, and mechanics of Valve’s Portal series.

ClockStone had created the original Bridge Constructor in 2011, a physics-based puzzle game in which players design structures that must carry vehicles safely across gaps. For the Portal spin-off, the studio worked with Headup Games, the publisher, and partnered with Valve for Portal-related gameplay elements, art assets, and lore.

The result places bridge construction inside Aperture Laboratories. Players must support trucks with struts, roads, and cables while also dealing with portals, buttons, turrets, lasers, excursion funnels, and propulsion or repulsion gel. GLaDOS supervises the tests, with Ellen McLain returning to voice the character.

A frequent mix-up is naming Headup Games or Valve as the developer. Headup Games published the title, while Valve licensed and supported the Portal material. Valve did not develop the entire game; ClockStone handled the game’s development and its core engineering-puzzle systems.
