What record label released the Bee Gees' 'Stayin' Alive'?

RSO Records released the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive.”

The single was issued in December 1977 as the second Bee Gees single from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. The group wrote the song, and the recording was produced by the Bee Gees with Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson. Its instantly recognizable rhythm and opening role in the film helped turn it into one of disco’s defining recordings.

“Stayin’ Alive” reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in February 1978 and remained there for four weeks. RSO stood for the Robert Stigwood Organisation, the company founded by manager and impresario Robert Stigwood. Stigwood managed the Bee Gees and was closely connected with Saturday Night Fever and its soundtrack.

Polydor Records is an understandable distractor because it distributed RSO releases during part of the label’s history, including the period immediately before the single’s release. Atlantic Records also distributed RSO earlier. The label named on the Bee Gees single itself, however, was RSO.
