Gwinnett Place Mall was redressed as Starcourt Mall in Stranger Things season 3.

The production used the defunct mall in Duluth, Georgia, as the main location for Starcourt’s interior and exterior scenes. The crew transformed vacant parts of the property with fictional storefronts, food-court details, period signage, and 1980s decorations to make it resemble a newly opened Indiana shopping center in the story.

Starcourt Mall is a major setting in the third season, which takes place during the summer of 1985. It becomes a social destination for the teenagers and a crucial location in the season’s supernatural and espionage plots. Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley work at the fictional Scoops Ahoy ice-cream shop inside the mall.

Gwinnett Place Mall opened in 1984, making it particularly useful for a story set shortly afterward. It should not be confused with Mall of Georgia, another large shopping center in the region, or with Starcourt itself, which is fictional. The season’s Hawkins streets and other locations were also filmed in Georgia.
