Rob Law pitched the children's ride-on suitcase Trunki on Dragon's Den.
Trunki is a lightweight children's suitcase designed so that a child can sit on it and ride or be pulled along while travelling. Designer and entrepreneur Rob Law developed the product and took it to Dragon's Den seeking investment. The pitch became notable because the Dragons did not agree to invest, yet the product later became a successful commercial brand.
The Trunki story is frequently used to illustrate that a televised rejection is not a definitive verdict on a business. Law continued developing and marketing the suitcase after the programme. Its distinctive shape, bright colours and child-focused design helped it stand out in the travel-products market.
Trunki is the brand name, not merely a description of a generic ride-on suitcase. It is also separate from mobility scooters and children's entertainment brands, which can be mistaken for the product when the pitch is recalled without its wider design context.
