What position does Harry Potter play in Quidditch?

The story behind the answer

Harry Potter plays Seeker in Quidditch.

In the wizarding sport, each team has one Seeker whose main task is to catch the Golden Snitch. Catching the Snitch usually ends the match and awards 150 points, making the position especially important even though Seekers generally do not handle the Quaffle or Bludgers.

Harry joins the Gryffindor team as its Seeker during his first year at Hogwarts. His flying ability and quick reactions make him unusually effective in the role. The position also places him in direct competition with other Seekers, including Draco Malfoy and Viktor Krum.

The other Quidditch positions are Keeper, Chaser, and Beater. Keepers defend the goal hoops, Chasers move the Quaffle and score, and Beaters use bats to redirect Bludgers. These roles are distinct from the Seeker’s Snitch-focused task.
