What platform do Harry Potter and his friends use to board the Hogwarts Express?

The story behind the answer

Harry Potter and his friends use Platform 9¾ to board the Hogwarts Express.

The hidden platform is located at London’s King’s Cross station in J.K. Rowling’s novels. Young witches and wizards reach it by passing through the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. The train then carries students to Hogwarts for the school year.

The platform’s fraction is one of the series’ most recognizable pieces of magical world-building. It turns an ordinary railway station into a concealed gateway between the Muggle and wizarding worlds.

King’s Cross station became closely associated with the books and films. In the real station, a themed luggage trolley is displayed at a wall near platforms 9 and 10 for visitors. The fictional platform should not be confused with an ordinary numbered railway platform.
