On British Dragon's Den, an investor commonly says “I'm out” when they no longer want to pursue a deal.
The phrase is part of the programme's familiar investment language. After questioning an entrepreneur, a Dragon may decide that the business, valuation, market or proposed equity does not suit their investment strategy. Saying “I'm out” signals that the Dragon will not make an offer.
The expression does not necessarily end the entire pitch immediately. Other Dragons may remain interested and continue negotiating with the entrepreneur. Several investors can also withdraw one by one until no possible deal remains.
Viewers may confuse “I'm out” with the final result of the pitch. It is an individual Dragon's decision, not automatically a statement that every investor has rejected the business.
