Nintendo ended service for the original free-to-play mobile game on November 28, 2024. Pocket Camp Complete launched on December 2, 2024, as a paid version without the original game's microtransactions. It allowed players to continue enjoying the campsite-focused experience after the online service ended, with save-data transfer available under Nintendo's transition plan.

The original Pocket Camp had launched worldwide on November 21, 2017, after an Australian release in October. It combined campsite decoration, villager requests, crafting, collecting, and limited-time events with free-to-play mechanics. Pocket Camp Complete retained much of that accumulated content, though some collaboration material was not included.
