Jackson Storm carries the number 20 in Pixar’s Cars 3.
Storm is a high-tech next-generation racer who quickly dominates the Piston Cup circuit. His sleek design, advanced training, and data-driven performance contrast with Lightning McQueen’s older racing style and traditional experience.
The number 20 identifies Storm throughout the film and is part of his black-and-blue racing livery. Lightning McQueen continues to race with his familiar number 95, while Chick Hicks is associated with number 86 in the first Cars film.
Cars 3 uses Storm to explore how athletes can be overtaken by newer technology and younger competitors. Lightning eventually receives help from Cruz Ramirez, whose own racing ability becomes central to the film’s resolution. Storm’s number should not be confused with Lightning’s 95 or Cruz’s later race number.
