J.R.R. Tolkien gave the Finnish-inspired language in his mythology the name Quenya.
Quenya is one of Tolkien’s most developed constructed languages. Its sound and structure were influenced especially by Finnish, while its vocabulary and grammar were created as part of Tolkien’s own linguistic artistry. In the fictional history of Middle-earth, Quenya was associated with the Elves known as the Ñoldor and Vanyar.
Tolkien did not invent Quenya merely as a collection of decorative words. He developed grammatical systems, sound patterns, and historical relationships between languages. This approach reflected his professional interest in philology, the study of languages and their historical development.
Sindarin is the most widely spoken Elvish language in many narratives and was influenced primarily by Welsh rather than Finnish. Adûnaic is associated with the Men of Númenor, while Khuzdul is the secret language of the Dwarves. These distinctions make Quenya the specific answer when Finnish influence is the clue.
