What name did Constantinople have in Assassin's Creed Revelations?

The story behind the answer

The major Ottoman city is called Constantinople in Assassin's Creed Revelations.

Released in 2011, Revelations sends Ezio Auditore to Constantinople in the early sixteenth century. He seeks keys connected with Altaïr's legacy while becoming involved in conflicts among the Ottoman succession factions, the Templars, and local Assassins.

The game's historical period is important for the name. Constantinople was officially renamed Istanbul in the twentieth century, long after the events portrayed in Revelations. The city had also been known as Byzantium in much earlier history, so those names can create confusion in trivia questions.

The setting includes districts on both sides of the Golden Horn and features landmarks such as Hagia Sophia, the Galata district, and Topkapı Palace. The game also includes Cappadocia as a separate location. Constantinople is therefore the period-appropriate answer used for the game's principal city.
