What name did Beyoncé’s early group Girl’s Tyme later become known by?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé’s early group Girl’s Tyme later became known as Destiny’s Child.

Girl’s Tyme was a Houston-based girl group formed in the early 1990s and featuring Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, and later LeToya Luckett. The group appeared on the television talent show Star Search in 1993, but it did not win.

After management and lineup changes, the group signed with Columbia Records and adopted the name Destiny’s Child. Its first major hit was “No, No, No,” released in 1997. The group later became one of the best-selling female groups in popular music.

Destiny’s Child eventually became a trio of Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett left during the group’s early career. The group announced a hiatus in 2005, and its members continued with solo projects.
