Mario Kart World’s version 1.8.0 update added Spectator Mode for online and LAN races.
The feature allows people in supported multiplayer sessions to watch races instead of participating directly. That is useful for groups taking turns, friends waiting for the next event, or local and online gatherings where not everyone is racing at once.
Version 1.8.0 was a free content update that also introduced 10 courses inspired by Super Mario Kart and two additional Knockout Tour routes. These additions extended both the game’s competitive options and its retro connections.
Spectating fits Mario Kart World’s larger multiplayer focus. The game can support races with up to 24 competitors, making shared sessions busier than earlier entries. A viewing option gives those larger events an audience as well as a field of racers.
