Pixar’s Coco received a PG rating from the Motion Picture Association of America.
The rating reflects thematic elements rather than strong violence or adult content. Coco deals with death, family separation, memory, and the afterlife, but presents these ideas in a family-oriented animated adventure.
The film’s fantasy setting includes the Land of the Dead, skeleton characters, and emotionally intense moments. Those elements may be serious or occasionally spooky for younger viewers, which helps explain the PG classification.
A PG rating does not mean that every child will respond to the film in the same way. Parents and guardians may consider the story’s treatment of death and grief when deciding whether it suits a particular child.
