Answer
Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is the movie about Raoul Duke and his lawyer traveling to Las Vegas.
The 1998 film was written and directed by Terry Gilliam and stars Johnny Depp as journalist Raoul Duke and Benicio del Toro as his attorney, Dr. Gonzo. It adapts Hunter S. Thompson’s 1971 book, which blends journalism, satire, autobiography, and surreal drug-fueled episodes.
Duke and Gonzo drive through the Mojave Desert in a red Chevrolet convertible while carrying an enormous supply of drugs. Duke has been assigned to cover the Mint 400 motorcycle race, but their reporting trip quickly dissolves into hallucinations, paranoia, hotel destruction, and encounters with Las Vegas institutions.
The film was initially a commercial failure and received sharply divided reviews. Over time, its flamboyant visuals, distorted perspective, and performances became associated with counterculture cinema, and it developed a strong cult following. “Dr. Gonzo” is a fictionalized version of Thompson’s attorney and friend Oscar Zeta Acosta, while Raoul Duke is Thompson’s recurring alter ego.
