What metal is Din Djarin’s helmet made from?

Din Djarin’s helmet is made from beskar. Beskar is the rare metal traditionally used by Mandalorians to forge their armor, including the distinctive helmet worn by Din Djarin, the bounty hunter at the center of The Mandalorian.

The metal is prized because it can withstand blaster fire and even repel lightsaber strikes. That durability makes beskar more than protective equipment: it is a cultural heirloom and a symbol of Mandalorian identity. The Empire mined and stole large quantities of it during the occupation and the Great Purge of Mandalore.

Din’s armor is gradually reforged by the Armorer. Early in the series, he receives new pieces after returning beskar obtained during a bounty. The finished suit is often called his “Beskar armor.” A common mix-up is assuming that every Mandalorian suit is pure beskar; many suits use beskar alloys or other metals because the material is scarce. Phrik and cortosis are also fictional Star Wars metals, but neither is the canonical answer for Din’s helmet.
