J.R.R. Tolkien created Quenya as the ancient tongue of the Elves in Valinor.
Quenya is one of Tolkien's most developed Elvish languages. In his fictional history, it was spoken by the Eldar who reached Valinor and was preserved as a language of lore after many Noldorin Elves returned to Middle-earth. Its sound and structure were influenced especially by Finnish, which Tolkien admired.
Sindarin is another major Elvish language, descended from the speech of Elves who remained in Middle-earth. It became the more commonly spoken Elvish language in much of the Third Age, while Quenya retained a formal, ceremonial, and scholarly role.
Khuzdul is the secret language of the Dwarves, and Adûnaic is associated with the Men of Númenor. Tolkien worked on the languages throughout his life, often changing their histories and relationships as his mythology evolved.
