After Ditto and Professor Tangrowth restore habitats and complete the Team Initiation Challenge, they celebrate with party poppers. The celebration accidentally activates an emergency evacuation protocol, revealing that the mysterious structure is actually a rocket ship.

The launch explains an important part of the game’s background. Humanity had left the region after environmental changes made the landscape difficult to inhabit. Humans could not bring every Pokémon with them, so they stored Pokémon in a large computer system designed to preserve them and release some if the system began to fail.

The rocket eventually travels through space and is discovered by a human, implied to be Ditto’s original trainer. The vehicle is therefore both a plot twist and the story’s link between the abandoned world and humanity’s future.
