What is the traditional Thai name for the day after Wan Nao in the Songkran calendar?

The story behind the answer

The traditional Thai name for the day after Wan Nao is Wan Thaloeng Sok.

Traditional Songkran reckoning distinguishes the end of the old year, the preparation interval, and the opening of the new year. Wan Maha Songkran marks the main transition, Wan Nao is the preparation day, and Wan Thaloeng Sok follows as the auspicious beginning of the new year.

Modern calendars and tourism materials usually emphasize April 13–15, so these older names can be unfamiliar even in Thailand. Regional customs may also use different local terminology or attach different rituals to the days.

The term should not be confused with Wan Nao, which is generally identified with April 14. These names belong to the traditional calendrical structure behind the modern festival.
