Shark Tank is the title of the US adaptation of the Dragon's Den investment format.
Shark Tank is an American reality television series in which entrepreneurs pitch businesses to a panel of investors. The investors can offer money in return for equity, negotiate terms or decline to make a deal. Its structure belongs to the same internationally adapted format family as Britain's Dragon's Den.
The American programme uses “sharks” rather than “dragons” for its investors, creating a different title while preserving the central pitch-and-negotiation premise. It premiered in the United States in 2009 and became a prominent platform for consumer products, services and technology businesses.
The answer is not The Apprentice, which is a different reality format centred on employment and business tasks. Nor is it simply an American retitling of every Dragon's Den episode. Shark Tank is the specific US adaptation title.
