Shark Tank is the title of the United States adaptation of the business-investment format used by the British show Dragons' Den.
Shark Tank premiered in the United States in 2009 on ABC. Like Dragons' Den, it features entrepreneurs presenting companies or products to wealthy investors and negotiating possible investments in exchange for equity or another agreed business arrangement.
The two programmes are related but are not the same series. They have different panels, broadcasters, presenters and national production histories. Money Tigers, also known as Money no Tora, is the Japanese programme that originated the wider format. Shark Tank is therefore the American adaptation, not the original Japanese title or an alternative name for the BBC programme.
