What is the title of the third main film in the Shrek franchise?
Answer
Shrek the Third
The third main film in the Shrek franchise is titled Shrek the Third.
DreamWorks Animation released the film in 2007. Its story follows Shrek as he searches for Arthur Pendragon, a young heir who could become king of Far Far Away after King Harold’s death. Shrek does not want to rule himself, so finding Arthur becomes a central goal.
The film also develops the family lives of Shrek and Fiona, who are expecting children. Mike Mitchell directed the movie, which followed Shrek 2 and preceded Shrek Forever After. The title is a deliberate play on the traditional phrase “the third,” while the movie remains distinct from the later fourth feature’s title.
