Money Tigers is the Japanese business-pitch show that inspired Britain's Dragon's Den.
Money Tigers, also known by its Japanese title Money no Tora, placed entrepreneurs before wealthy investors who could choose whether to fund their proposals. The show established the central dramatic formula later used by Dragon's Den: a concise presentation followed by detailed questioning and negotiation.
The British programme changed the name, presentation style and investor identities for its domestic audience, but it retained the key structure. Entrepreneurs generally seek money in exchange for a share of their company, although the exact terms depend on the pitch and the investors' willingness to deal.
The title is sometimes confused with the later international branding Dragon's Den or Shark Tank. Those programmes belong to the same broad format family, but Money Tigers is the specific Japanese source programme credited with originating the concept.
