What is the title of the first film in the Terminator franchise?
Answer
The Terminator
The first film in the Terminator franchise is titled The Terminator.
Released in 1984, the film introduced Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese, the Terminator, Skynet, and the basic conflict between humanity and time-traveling machines. Its plot centers on a Terminator sent to kill Sarah and a human resistance fighter sent back to protect her.
The film’s success led to Terminator 2: Judgment Day in 1991 and later sequels, including Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation, Terminator: Genisys, and Terminator: Dark Fate. The franchise also produced the television series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
The title is occasionally shortened in conversation to “Terminator,” but the complete title of the 1984 film is The Terminator. It should not be confused with the franchise name used for the entire series.
