The title of the 2006 American film about Magdalena’s planned quinceañera in Echo Park is Quinceañera.
The film follows Magdalena, a teenager whose family is preparing for her fifteenth-birthday celebration. As the story develops, the planned event intersects with family tension, housing problems, religion, and changing relationships within the community.
Quinceañera was written and directed by Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and won both the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award there, giving the independent feature an important early platform.
The title is shared by other works, including a 1987 Mexican telenovela. The year and format therefore matter: this answer identifies the American feature film released in 2006, not the earlier television series or the general celebration itself.
