What is the title of the 1997 sequel to the 1993 film Jurassic Park?

The story behind the answer

The 1997 sequel to the 1993 film Jurassic Park is titled The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

Steven Spielberg returned to direct this sequel, which is loosely based on Michael Crichton’s 1995 novel The Lost World. Jeff Goldblum reprises his role as mathematician Ian Malcolm, who travels to Isla Sorna after learning that InGen has been studying and breeding dinosaurs there. The story expands the franchise beyond the original park’s failed opening.

The film was released by Universal Pictures on May 23, 1997. Its plot includes a second expedition, a corporate attempt to exploit living dinosaurs, and a Tyrannosaurus brought to San Diego. The title echoes Arthur Conan Doyle’s 1912 novel The Lost World, although the film’s story is a separate creation.
