What is the title of C.S. Lewis’s first Narnia novel by publication date?

C.S. Lewis’s first Narnia novel by publication date was The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

The novel was published in 1950 by Geoffrey Bles. It was the first of the seven Chronicles of Narnia books to reach readers, even though it is not the earliest story chronologically within the fictional history of Narnia.

The Magician’s Nephew, published in 1955, explains the creation of Narnia and therefore comes earlier in the internal chronology. This difference between publication order and chronological order causes the most common confusion about which book is “first.”

The opening novel features the Pevensie siblings, the faun Mr. Tumnus, the White Witch, and Aslan. Its publication established the series’ blend of fantasy, moral allegory, and classical and Christian imagery.
