Beyoncé’s 2016 studio album built around a seven-part visual narrative is Lemonade.
Released on April 23, 2016, Lemonade combines R&B, pop, rock, soul, hip-hop, country, and blues influences. Its accompanying hour-long film premiered on HBO on the same day, linking the album’s songs through poetry, imagery, and a sequence of emotional chapters.
The project explores themes including betrayal, grief, anger, reconciliation, family, and Black womanhood. It features contributions from artists such as Jack White, Kendrick Lamar, James Blake, and The Weeknd.
Lemonade is sometimes confused with Beyoncé, the 2013 self-titled visual album. Both projects use visual storytelling, but Lemonade is the 2016 album associated with the seven-part film and its chapter structure.
