What is the tallest building in the European Union?
Answer
Varso Tower
Answer
Varso Tower
Varso Tower is the tallest building in the European Union.
The skyscraper stands in Warsaw, Poland, as the centerpiece of the Varso office complex. Its architectural height is 310 meters (1,017 feet), including its spire, and it contains 53 floors. Construction began in 2016, the tower topped out in February 2021, and the complex was completed in 2022. It was developed by HB Reavis and designed with Foster + Partners as lead architect.
Varso Tower overtook Frankfurt’s 259-meter Commerzbank Tower. The change also reflects the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union: London’s Shard had been the EU’s tallest building before Brexit, but it ceased to qualify when the UK left the bloc in 2020. The Shard is still taller than most EU skyscrapers, reaching roughly 309 meters, but it is now outside the EU. Varso’s highest usable floor is much lower than its architectural tip, at about 230 meters.
