The detective at the center of J.K. Rowling’s crime novels has the surname Strike.
Cormoran Strike is the protagonist of the series Rowling writes under the name Robert Galbraith. He is a private investigator based in London and a former member of the Special Investigation Branch of the Royal Military Police. His military background contributes to his investigative skills and to the physical consequences of an earlier injury.
The first novel, The Cuckoo’s Calling, introduces Strike while he is investigating the death of model Lula Landry. Robin Ellacott begins working with him as a temporary secretary and develops into a crucial investigative partner. Readers sometimes reverse the character’s names or treat Galbraith as the detective’s surname, but Galbraith is the author pseudonym. The character’s full name is Cormoran Blue Strike.
