Origins is the subtitle of the 2017 Assassin's Creed game set in ancient Egypt.
Assassin's Creed Origins follows Bayek of Siwa and Aya during the Ptolemaic period, several decades before the common era. The story explores the events that lead to the creation of the Hidden Ones, the historical forerunners of the Assassin Brotherhood.
The game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal and released in October 2017. It substantially changed the series by adding role-playing mechanics, character levels, loot, ability trees, and a large open world spanning deserts, cities, temples, and the Nile Valley.
Odyssey, released in 2018, is set in ancient Greece, while Valhalla focuses on Viking-era England and Norway. Mirage, released in 2023, centers on ninth-century Baghdad and the character Basim Ibn Ishaq.
