What is the real name of Black Cat?

The real name of Black Cat is Felicia Hardy. More fully, Marvel identifies her as Felicia Sara Hardy, the daughter of famous cat burglar Walter Hardy.

Felicia first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #194 in July 1979. She initially adopted the Black Cat identity while trying to free her father from prison, eventually becoming one of Spider-Man’s most enduring allies and romantic interests. Her skills include acrobatics, martial arts, burglary, and hand-to-hand combat.

Black Cat has gained different abilities across her comic-book history. Her best-known power is a probability-altering “bad luck” effect that causes misfortune for people nearby. In some stories, these powers were artificial or later removed, so her abilities can differ between eras.

A common mix-up comes from adaptations: Felicity Jones played a character named Felicia in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but that film never fully depicts her as Black Cat. Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson are separate Spider-Man characters, not Black Cat’s real identity.
