What is the original Japanese television programme on which the British series Dragon's Den is based?

The story behind the answer

The British series Dragon's Den is based on the Japanese television programme Money Tigers.

Money Tigers was a Japanese reality business programme in which entrepreneurs sought funding from wealthy investors. Its central idea—pitches followed by negotiation over investment and equity—was adapted for broadcasters in several countries.

The UK version uses the name Dragon's Den, while the United States version is known as Shark Tank. Although the investors have different names in each country, the core structure remains recognisable: entrepreneurs explain a product or company, investors ask questions, and offers may be made.

The Japanese title is often confused with the English-language names of later adaptations. Money Tigers is the source programme, not the name of the British or American editions.
