What is the only country that shares a land border with Portugal?

The story behind the answer

The only country that shares a land border with Portugal is Spain.

The Portugal–Spain border runs along Portugal's eastern and northern sides, separating Portugal from Spain on the Iberian Peninsula. It stretches for about 1,234 kilometers and is commonly known in Portuguese as A Raia and in Spanish as La Raya.

The border is one of Europe's oldest. Much of its course was defined by the Treaty of Alcañices in 1297, although later agreements adjusted or clarified sections, including the area around Olivenza. Portugal and Spain later joined the Schengen Area, making the boundary generally open to travelers without routine passport checks.

Portugal has maritime territory and islands in the Atlantic, but neither Morocco nor France shares a land border with the country. France is nearby across Spain, while Morocco lies across the Strait of Gibraltar and therefore is not a land neighbor.
